One of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. Two different styles merging together like the yin and yang to morph into what would become the golden standard for artist that would follow years later.

Big Boi bobs and weaves between flows so effortlessly and pieces together words and metaphors in the most clever way possible. Andre’s introspection and off kilter flows is refreshing and offers something completely different from what you hear from Big Boi.

The way they experiment between flows and their voices while keeping up with incredible production is what makes this stand out. Bass heavy hip hop at its core mixed with funky moments that defined the sound for an entire region. Truly one of, if not the greatest hip hop group of all time. This is a must listen and essential album, truly timeless.

The highlight of the album for me is Chonkyfire, in the midst of the praise that west coast and east coast music were receiving during the time of this release, the south was written off and not taken seriously. All the angst and ambition poured into the outro of the album, with production that matched those emotions. The south really had something to say.

5 years of CLB. I think this has some of Drake’s writing, specifically on songs like: Champagne Poetry, Love All, Fair Trade, Pipe Down and Race My Mind.

The highs of this album is insane, some of Drake’s best work especially on Pipe Down, Race my Mind and Fair Trade. This album is more of a 3.75 out of 5 for me, I dislike the three songs after the intro but after that the album flows extremely well and shows exactly why Drake has been the number 1 guy in the genre.

One of those albums that makes you feel happy to be alive. So ahead of its time and you can tell this is still the blueprint for a lot of the bands today. God Only Knows is one of the greatest songs ever written.

The Boat I Row is perfect with an incredible bass line that leads the drums and Kevin’s vocals, super melodic and would’ve fit the album perfectly

No Choice is another banger, have no idea how this didn’t make it either.

Patience is a perfect homage to the sound of ABBA while adding in Tame’s own style to it. Sounds like a summer day you want to live in everyday.

The remixes for One More Year and Borderline are great takes and adds a new dimension to them with the way they’re flipped. Patience remix is also another vibe but not as strong as the other two mentioned.

Gritty girl pop music that lifts the same energy and sassiness from pop music between 2009-2011 but with modern drums and crushing bass. One of my favorite first listens for an album and im going to call this a modern Pop classic. This immediately jumps out and grabs you. I might do a more detailed review later but love how unapologetic and experimental it is but still plays into the best parts of yesteryear’s pop music.

Tame Impala’s third classic in a row, this is the album that crossed over to the mainstream and shifted the entire soundscape of music across all genres. It’s the perfect mix of catchy melodies, experimentation, lush textures, and amazing drums.

This might be the gold standard of production for me personally.
